Simplified, time-saving, and cost-effective finishing workflow to achieve excellence.
LOW FIRING TEMPERATURE (740°C)
For compatibility with a broad range of restorative materials including zirconia and lithium disilicate* and a simplified inventory management.
UNIQUE PORCELAIN PROPERTIES
Based on synthetic feldspathic porcelain for consistent handling and excellent mechanical properties; multiple firing is possible.
CERABIEN™ MiLai is a set of porcelains and internal stains specifically designed for the micro-layering technique. The name “MiLai” is derived from the term “micro-layering” and the Japanese word “mirai” (which means future). The innovative product based on synthetic feldspar enables dental technicians to add the final touch to their zirconia or lithium disilicate restorations in a simple and time-saving procedure – for outstanding aesthetics right from the start.

COMPACT LINE-UP DESIGNED FOR MICRO-LAYERING
Modern zirconia or lithium disilicate-based restorative materials have a high aesthetic potential, so that a comprehensive reduction and adding of multiple layers of porcelain is usually no longer required. Instead, a monolithic design or small up to 0.5 mm (vestibular) cut-back is performed, and the dental technician may add a thin layer of porcelain to obtain the effects typical for natural enamel. This procedure is referred to as MICRO-LAYERING – a simplified layering approach leading to beautiful outcomes.

CASES
740 °C
Low firing temperature
740 °C - LOW FIRING TEMPERATURE
The firing temperature of CERABIEN MiLai porcelains and internal stains is lower than that of CERABIEN ZR porcelains (740 °C / 1,364°F versus 930 °C / 1,706 °F). This feature makes CERABIEN MiLai the go-to solution for the finishing of oxide ceramic (e.g. zirconia) and silicate ceramic* (e.g. lithium disilicate) restorations. With fewer lines of porcelain needed, the porcelain inventory is reduced further and fewer decisions need to be taken.
If desired, CERABIEN MiLai porcelains and internal stains may even be applied on top of CERABIEN ZR, as the lower firing temperature does prevent any deformations in the existing porcelain work.
CERABIEN MiLai porcelain is fluorescent, mimicking the optical properties of a natural tooth. This adds to the vitality and life-like appearance of a restoration. Only Tissue shades do not have the same fluorescent properties, as natural gingiva is not fluorescent.

The program below is only a guideline. Baking temperature may be varied with the peculiarities of different furnace. Porcelain furnace temperature variations may be significant in the lower ranges. Determine the exact baking schedule by making a preliminary test before baking an actual case restoration.

FAQ
“CERABIEN™ MiLai” is a dental porcelain, designed mainly for the micro-layering technique. This porcelain can be used both on zirconia framework or on lithium disilicate framework thanks to its bakability at lower temperatures and optimization of coefficient of thermal expansion.
This is a technique to reduce the thickness of porcelain layers on a restoration, by using a framework with almost final shape, such as cut-back. This type of framework can strengthen the restoration and prevent the porcelain layer from chipping or cracking. Compared to full contour restorations, the micro-layering technique produces more pleasing aesthetics owing to a thin layer of porcelain on the framework which replicates the characteristics of the natural tooth.
Yes, “CERABIEN™ MiLai” is not only easy-to-handle, it also delivers a range of shades suitable for most daily procedures. Kuraray Noritake Dental Inc. has developed “CERABIEN™ MiLai” as a result of feedback and suggestions from KOLs in several countries to meet users’ needs.
No, do not mix different porcelains. It may cause cracking or delamination.
Yes, you can apply “CERABIEN™ MiLai” Internal Stains directly on zirconia or lithium disilicate frameworks. Use Bright, colourless and transparent shade, for the area where colouring is not necessary.
No, do not use other manufacturers’ porcelains as it may cause cracking or delamination.
Yes, but please bake the “CERABIEN™ MiLai” layer, after baking a layer with “CERABIEN™ ZR” or CZR PRESS LF, as the baking schedule varies according to the porcelain. For detailed information about the baking schedule, refer to the Instructions for Use supplied with the product.
Yes, you can use zirconia from other manufacturers unless the zirconia contains CeO2 (Ceria/Cerium oxide). Test baking beforehand to adjust the settings of your furnace. For detailed information, refer to the Instructions for Use supplied with the product.
The layers applied with this product should not be thicker than that of the framework - i.e. when the thickness of the framework is 0.5 mm, the thickness of porcelain layer should be less than 0.5 mm.
Its flexural strength is 95 MPa. This is close to that of “CERABIEN™ ZR” (95 MPa) which has been receiving excellent ratings from the market.
Yes, you can use it for this purpose.
Yes, wash baking enhances bonding strength between the porcelains and the framework made of either zirconia or lithium disilicate.
This is correct. If the name is same, the colour is same.
Porcelains used for the cervical area have fluorescent properties whereas porcelains used for the gingival area, which include “Tissue” in the name, do not have fluorescent properties because gingiva is not fluorescent.
Yes, you can. Use LF liquid or distilled water for “CERABIEN™ MiLai” porcelains, and use IS liquid or distilled water for “CERABIEN™ MiLai” Internal Stains. Note: Do not use “CERABIEN™ ZR” Forming Liquid, Meister Liquid or any liquids from other manufacturers.
“CERABIEN™ MiLai” can be used on lithium disilicate materials which have CTE within 9.5-11.0×10-6/°C (50°C~500°C). The recommended shade for the framework varies depending on its abutment colour, target shade or target translucency. For detailed information, refer to the Instructions for Use supplied with the lithium disilicate material.
Value Liner is mainly used to control the value of a framework, especially when using lithium disilicate glass. Its opacity is similar to “CERABIEN™ ZR” Opacious Body. By applying a thin layer of Value Liner, you can control the value of the framework colour.
The condition of a furnace may not be stable at low temperature. Adjust the baking setting if necessary and test again to see if the restoration can be baked properly. If you bake the restoration correctly, the surface of the restoration should have a slight luster.
For long-span bridges, adjust baking schedule such as lowering Heat Rate, increasing High Temperature, or having longer Hold Time.
Use “CERABIEN™ ZR” FC Paste Stain to add fine detail to the restoration.
Yes. For porcelains, Value Liner 1 and Value Liner 2, and for Internal Stains, Blue, Yellow, Tissue Pink and Tissue Red are new shades.
Tissue Pink is a vivid pink shade that can reproduce a healthy gingiva. This shade does not have the same fluorescent properties as the other Tissue shades, as natural gingiva is not fluorescent. This shade can be used for the gingival area as well as a base colour for the lighter coloured gingival area. It can also be used in the cervical area by mixing with the Fluoro shade.
Tissue Red is same colour as the existing Red shade in “CERABIEN™ ZR” Internal Stain. You can use this shade to reproduce the dark gingival area such as the area between roots. This shade can replicate a wide range of gingival colours by mixing it with Tissue Pink. It can also be used in the cervical area by mixing with the Fluoro shade.
Generally, the value of the restoration decreases and the chroma of the restoration increases, when using porcelains or Internal Stains on frameworks. We therefore recommend you select a framework that is at least one shade brighter. Owing to the high translucency of lithium disilicate frameworks, you may need to layer Value Liner shades of “CERABIEN™ MiLai” to control the opacity. Please note that the specifications of lithium disilicate materials vary according to the manufacturer. Please refer to the Instructions for Use supplied with the lithium disilicate material, or confirm with the manufacturer.
