Our advanced technology, your benefits
Most of the material’s favourable features – like its high mechanical strength, wear resistance, antagonist friendliness and natural aesthetics – are thanks to a proprietary manufacturing technology developed by our R&D team in Japan. The ultrafine particle fillers are coloured and surface-treated first. For KATANA AVENCIA Block 2 ML, differently shaded fillers are then placed in layers – the key to a seamless multi-layered structure with transitional changes in chroma and translucency. Finally, for the ML and HT variants, the ultrafine alumina and silica fillers are pressed into high-density blocks, uniformly impregnated with resin monomer and heat-polymerized for excellent mechanical properties and surface smoothness.
KATANA AVENCIA Block 2 is equipped with superior optical, mechanical and handling properties, many of which are thanks to an advanced manufacturing process developed by Kuraray Noritake Dental Inc. Especially the unique filler treatment and resin impregnation process are leading the way towards well balanced features.

Shape the restoration in the usual manner. Utilize TWIST™ DIA for Composite polishers to achieve a brilliant, high-gloss finish in a short time, enhancing aesthetics and patient satisfaction.
Condition the prosthetic restoration by air-abrading the bonding surface with alumina powder (30-50 μm) using an air pressure of 1-2 bar.
After the trial fit, apply KATANA Cleaner to the restoration and tooth surfaces. This removes contaminants and enhances bond strength for long-lasting restorations.
Follow the protocols with PANAVIA™ SA Cement Universal or PANAVIA™ V5 to streamline your workflow to achieve durable bonding.

Is it possible to mill KATANA™ AVENCIA™ Block in CEREC system (milling machine)?
There are 2 types of “KATANA™ AVENCIA™ Block”. “KATANA™ AVENCIA™ Block for Universal” can be milled in any open machine, such as DWX (Roland). In the case of “KATANA™ AVENCIA™ Block for CEREC”, it is exclusive for use in the CEREC system.
What cement do you recommend?
You can use any of our resin cements, including PANAVIA™ SA Cement Universal and PANAVIA™ V5.
What are the conditions for sandblasting?
It should be performed with blasting with alumina powder (30 to 50 μm) using air pressure of 1 to 2 bar (14-29 psi/0.1-0.2 MPa).
What is the advantage of this product over competing composite resin blocks?

These characteristics are based on our innovative manufacturing process. First, the nano-sized fillers are densely compressed into a block, which is then uniformly impregnated with resin monomer. The resin is then polymerized by heating it. This way ensures high density fillers.
